READY TO ADOPT?! AWESOME! Here is all the info you will need!
1. You must be 21+.
2. You must get pre-approved by filling out the online application *
Please Note: Applying does not guarantee that the specific cat that you're interested in will still be available when your application is complete. Applications must be approved before a cat is put "on hold" for someone. We encourage pre-approval to make the process smoother if you're ready to adopt a new family member!
3. You must meet the cat of interest before final approval (cannot "shop online" as we feel a connection with your new pet is important!)
4. Please make an appointment at your earliest convenience to meet the cat of interest!
ADOPTION FEES...
Cats over 1 year are $125. Kittens (1 year and younger) are $140. If you adopt two kitties at once, the cost is $210. Fees cover the vet health check, treatment for fleas and worms, and all necessary vaccines, spay / neutering and micro-chipping. All fees go to our rescue partner, Mac Tabby does not take any portion.
VET CHECKS...
Applications require proof of yearly vetting for any currently owned pet before an adoption is approved...
Princeton's Meow volunteers will contact your vet to verify the current care of all pets. Your vet will need to provide information on annual exams, current core vaccinations and proper preventatives on file before an application can be approved. *Please call your vet in advance and let them know they have permission to speak with Princeton's Meow to save processing time!
RENTAL REQUIREMENTS...
Do you rent? Not a homeowner? No problem! However, proof that you have informed your rental property / homeowner of your potential new pet is necessary. Any required deposits & pet fees must be paid prior to receive an approval for adoption. For those who live with a homeowner, permission in writing will be required. We encourage any adopter to start on this right away so your application is not held up in a leasing office as you will need to provide this paperwork during the application process.
I APPLIED! NOW WHAT?...
Princeton's Meow kindly asks for a 4-day grace period to respond to your application (this does not include weekends. Veterinarian offices are typically not open on weekends and vet checks are a necessary step in completing your application). Princeton's team members all work full-timthen dedicate their time to the cats and the humans ready to love them (aka "the best job of all!") They are working hard for everyone involved and appreciate your patience!
If you have not heard anything back after the grace period, PLEASE CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER! The email regarding your adoption paperwork will come from Princeton's Meow, and sometimes winds up in spam. If you still cannot locate an email, please email a representative at pmadoption@outlook.com to follow up (Mac Tabby employees do not process applications and may not have the info you're looking for!)
ON ADOPTION NIGHT...
Princeton's Meow will provide adoption night pick-up info during the adoption communication process! On the designated night of pick up, you will be asked to bring a secure pet carrier. A representative will be on location to go over paperwork and take your payment (cash, debit / credit). Our Cat Crew will then take a Polaroid of you and your new furry family member for our memory books, and then you're ready to go!
WHAT DOES MY NEW CAT NEED?...
Your kitty is used to eating Hill's Science Diet and using Frisco cat litter (sold by Chewy). You are welcome to change this at your home but we suggest starting out this way. At adoption, you will get a bag of food to take home with you to get started, as well as a little goodie bag courtesy of Princeton's Meow. Cats love stimulation, so don't forget to shop for some scratching posts, catnip and toys!
